Game 1 versus the New York Knicks was the first game Cleveland Cavaliers wing Isaac Okoro played in around three weeks due to a knee injury. Unsurprisingly, Okoro put together a forgettable performance in his return to action. He scored just six points — on 1-for-6 shooting from the field and 0-for-4 from three — in a game the Cavaliers lost by a final score of 101-97. But a recent injury update from Okoro himself indicates that his knee is now in good shape, per a tweet from Evan Dammarell:
“I asked Okoro how his knee was doing and he said it was fine. Okoro also said that there was a bit of rust having G1 be his first game back in nearly three weeks, but he’s feeling okay about things as things advance.”
Isaac Okoro, 22, is in his third year in the NBA, all as a member of the Cavaliers franchise. He averaged 6.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game across 76 appearances this season (46 starts).
The former Auburn star shot the ball with impressive accuracy from behind the three-point arc in the 2022-23 campaign, at least by his standards — Okoro’s 36.3% three-point percentage is the highest of his pro career.
Tuesday’s Game 2 is a must-win game for the Cavaliers. If they lose and go down 2-0, with the next two games being at Madison Square Garden, it’s very unlikely that the Cavs will be able to come back and win the series. So here’s to hoping that the Cavs earn a bounce-back victory on Tuesday.
