The Cleveland Cavaliers lost to the New York Knicks in five games, putting a disappointing end to what was a rather promising season. After the series ended, the Cavs players came out with a ton of surprising quotes, and Isaac Okoro gave some shocking admissions that might not be pleasing to the fans (h/t Danny Cunningham of ESPN).
“I don’t think you could adjust physicality. You just have to have it. You got to have toughness. You got to have be, it’s a mental thing. It’s not something you just physically have.”
It was an unfortunate ending to their season, but there is a lot of promise in Cleveland despite losing in five games. However, Okoro’s comments should be eye-opening for the team as they aim to make some changes in the offseason.
Head coach JB Bickerstaff was painfully honest following the series, and Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Ricky Rubio, and Jarrett Allen all expressed disappointment with how things ended.
The Cavs scored 100 points or more just once in the entire series, and they had that unforgettable Game 3 performance with 79 points. The Knicks kept punching them in the mouth, and Cleveland had no answer for it.
This feeling won’t go away easily, either.
The Cavs now face a long offseason where they have a lot of questions to figure out. However, the nucleus of Darius Garland, Isaac Okoro, Evan Mobley, and Donovan Mitchell is a terrific group to have for the foreseeable future.
There should be plenty more quotes coming out from the Cavs players after this loss, but Okoro’s might be one of the more shocking revelations.
