LeBron James maintained that he will continue to take his time in deciding on his free agency, keeping everyone waiting on the edge of their seats.
James is in the final stretch of his illustrious career, and he wants to close it in the most ideal way possible. Many have pointed out that returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers would be a storybook ending, as it would be a full-circle journey for the four-time champion.
On “The Road Trippin’ Show,” Grant Hill, who is a part-owner of the Atlanta Hawks, joked that he would like to see James stay in the Western Conference and play golf with Stephen Curry. But turning serious, he said it would be perfect for the 41-year-old James if he reunites with the Cavaliers.
“Selfishly, as a fan, I’d love to see him go back to Cleveland. That’s where it started, obviously,” said Hill.
He, however, noted that James, who led the Cavaliers to the title in 2016, will face stiff competition in the Eastern Conference.
“The East is gonna be harder next year. Indiana’s (Pacers) back. I know they traded Jaylen Brown, but Boston (Celtics), if they’re healthy, they’re gonna be really good. I think part of it too is that you had a draft that’s supposed to be a great draft this year, so a lot of teams were tanking (last season),” added the Hall of Famer.
“I think Orlando (Magic) is gonna be really good with (Sean) Sweeney, Atlanta will be better, Toronto (Raptors). I’d like to see LeBron in Cleveland, though.”
Moreover, Hill, who also tackled the exclusion of Jaylen Brown on Team USA in 2024, posited that James with the Cavaliers would rake in more TV ratings in the Eastern Conference.
Aside from the Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Golden State Warriors are being linked to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer.
