After 14 years of enrollment and 10 years of NBA service, Cleveland Cavaliers point guard George Hill is set to graduate from IUPUI on Saturday with a degree in liberal arts, according to a report from Tom Lewis of SB Nation.
With the Cavs through to the Eastern Conference Finals, Hill has a bit of time off, which means he should be able to attend the graduation ceremony at Lucas Oil Stadium before rejoining his teammates for Sunday’s Game 1 matchup against the Boston Celtics. According to SB Nation, Hill has been selected as one of two student speakers who will address the class of 2018.
Though he’s made quite a bit of money over the course of his career in the NBA, Hill will reportedly be the first in his family to earn a college degree.
Hill, now 31 years of age, has been a fine addition to Cleveland’s roster since joining the team at the trade deadline. He’s a solid defender with an accurate shot at range (especially at the corner store). In his 24 appearances with the Cavs during their 2017-18 regular season campaign, the former 26th overall pick (2008) racked up averages of 9.4 points on 44.4 percent shooting from the field (35.1 percent from beyond the arc), 3.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds and just under one steal (0.9) in 27.9 minutes per.
Sunday’s Game 1 matchup against the Celtics is scheduled to tip at 3:30 p.m. EST with ABC having live broadcast coverage.
Join us in congratulating Hill for earning a college degree!
