The Cleveland Cavaliers managed to avoid elimination with a crucial win in Game 6. Aside from small forward LeBron James, point guard George Hill was at the forefront of the Cavs’ 109-99 win over the Boston Celtics on Friday night.
There are plenty of reasons why Hill has played particularly well as of late. However, according to Hayden Grove of Cleveland.com, he credited Chipotle for the recent uptick in his performance:
George Hill said that he’s eaten regular barbacoa tacos with guacamole for each pre-game meal in Cleveland. Said he’s definitely going to find Chipotle before Game 7 in Boston.
Hill has never been one to be superstitious. However, it appears he has paid attention to detail with his pregame routine given what is currently at stake for Cleveland. Regardless, there is no doubt that it has been working for him.
The performance of James has been fueled by how much of a non-factor his supporting cast has been this postseason. That notion has largely rung true for Hill throughout these playoffs. Fortunately, he has managed to step up his play against Boston at a time when his team needed it the most. He enjoyed his best outing yet in Game 6 with 20 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting. He also managed to make an impact on the defensive end with two steals and a block.
Hill has now scored in double digits in three of Cleveland’s last four games. If he suggests that Chipotle has been a major reason for that, then the Cavs better make sure he gets his fill before Game 7.
