Cleveland Cavaliers point guard George Hill (back spasms) has been cleared to play in Sunday’s Game 7 matchup against the Indiana Pacers, according to a report from Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com. With the series tied at three games apiece, both teams will be looking for a solid outing in this closeout affair.
Hill, now 31 years of age, has been dealing with back soreness since Game 1 of this series when he backed into an illegal screen. The savvy veteran has been held out of three consecutive games for precautionary measures. According to Vardon, Hill received four shots prior to Game 6 in an attempt to play.
In his 24 appearances with the Cavs during their regular season campaign, Hill racked up averages of 9.4 points on 44.4 percent shooting from the field (35.1 percent from beyond the arc), 2.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and just under one steal (0.9) in 27.9 minutes per game. Needless to say, the Cavs will be happy to have him back on the floor.
Coach Lue would not disclose whether or not Hill will be in the starting lineup for Game 7, according to Vardon. In games past, Lue elected to start Jose Calderon at point guard.
Sunday afternoon’s game is set to tip inside Quicken Loans Arena at 1:00 p.m. EST. The winner of this series will face the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference semifinals on Tuesday.
