The Cleveland Cavaliers added talent to their team before the trade deadline, acquiring Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis from the Sacramento Kings for De’Andre Hunter. Schroder and Ellis are two quality players and will add much-needed depth for the Cavs as they try to climb up the standings for the remainder of the season. Not only should the team be excited about these additions, but it looks like fans have already started to buy into what they can bring to the court.

“Keon Ellis is definitely gonna help make up for the POA the Cavs have been missing since moving Isaac Okoro. Ellis finished the 2024-25 season averaging 3.6 deflections per game, 6th in the NBA (min. 40 games) He is within the 94th Percentile in Passing Lane Defense this year,” Mack Perry of Fear The Sword wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

“Welcome to Cleveland, I’ve complained all season that the Cavs have no real perimeter defenders outside of Jaylon Tyson. This changes a lot for the Cavs,” another user wrote.

“Hunter takes way too many shots offensively. When he hits them, we blow teams out. That hasn’t been often this year though. Schroeder is known to rise to the occasion. Playoffs w/ the lakers, any international competition with Germany. Plus you get defensive depth w Keon,” a third user wrote.

It seems like many people are happy about the deal, and the hope is that they can come in and make an immediate impact. Schroder should be a solid backup guard, and he’ll help while Darius Garland is still sidelined with his injury.

As for Ellis, he’s a good 3-and-D player, and it seems like the Cavs needed more defenders throughout their team.

The Cavs have been rolling as of late, and that should continue with Schroder and Ellis now on the team.
