The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to an impressive start to the 2024-25 NBA season at 11-0. The Cavs were looking to improve to 12-0 as they took on the Chicago Bulls on Monday. The outcome of the game was still undecided, but Cavs star Donovan Mitchell set social media ablaze with a stunning 360 layup during the first half.

During the Cavs game against the Bulls, Donovan Mitchell swooped down the lane, caught a pass from Evan Mobley, and evaded Ayo Dosunmu with a 360 spin in the air to lay the ball into the basket. Predictably, social media lit up with reactions from fans.

Some were simply in awe of Mitchell’s feat.

Others saw similarity between him and Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant

But whatever the case, it was a spectacular move and one of the top plays of the day.

During the early goings of the season, Mitchell’s play has been one of the driving forces behind the Cavs’ incredible start to the year.

He’s averaging 22.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.3 steals with splits of 46.8 percent shooting from the field, 40.5 percent shooting from the three-point line and 85.7 percent shooting from the free-throw line. His three-point shooting is a career high.

Mitchell has been selected to the All-Star team for five consecutive seasons now. He’s most likely an early favorite to be named to the 2024-25 All-Star team.

This is Mitchell’s third season with the Cavs. He joined Cleveland ahead of the 2022-23 season in an offseason trade with the Utah Jazz that sent Lauri Markkanen and Collin Sexton, among others, to the Jazz.

Last season, the Cavs finished with a top four record in the Eastern Conference. They defeated the Orlando Magic in seven games. They advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals against the Boston Celtics where they were defeated in five games.
