LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are best friends and two of the most talented players in the NBA. Both players were lottery picks in the 2003 NBA Draft. Wade was fortunate enough to win a championship in 2006 with the help of Shaquille O’Neal. James was less fortunate. After many years of failure with the Cavaliers, James was swept out of the Finals by a much superior San Antonio Spurs team in 2007.
In 2010, when James became an unrestricted free agent, Wade recruited him to join the Heat. The duo won two championships together before James left in 2014. They eventually reunited this year to play for the Cavaliers. Although Wade is 36 years old and is older than James, he still affirmed that James taught him a lot while he was in Cleveland, per Alex Squadron of SLAM Online.
Q: What did you learn about LeBron James from years playing with him?
DW: He’s not great because he’s big or fast. All those things help, but it’s his knowledge of the game and his work ethic. He works like no other. He’s very strict on things in his life when it comes to his diet, when it comes to his time, when it comes to all kinds of things. It’s not by mistake that he’s great. He definitely works at it.
James and Wade will remain friends even if they don’t play with each other again. Wade will likely remain with the Heat for the rest of his career, while James makes career decisions that will net him NBA titles. Hopefully, Wade can apply what he learned from James and teach some of his younger Heat teammates.
