On Sunday evening, the Cleveland Cavaliers’ losing ways continued with a frustrating home loss to the Boston Celtics. The Cavs were playing a Celtics team on the second night of a back to back, without Derrick White, but still lost largely due to a breakout 42-point performance from Payton Pritchard.

After the game, the mood was understandably down in the Cavs’ locker room, as portrayed by Ethan Sands of Cleveland.com.

“(Donovan Mitchell) sat at his locker and stared into a kind of emotional quiet that felt larger than the room itself. His teammates spoke a few steps away, voices rising and falling as they replayed the final seconds of a game that slipped through Cleveland’s hands again,” reported Sands.

Overall, the Cavs have been a major disappointment so far this season, currently sitting at 12-9 after last year’s historic season. Cleveland entered this year with sky-high expectations, hoping to stay healthy in the wake of last year’s playoff collapse at the hands of the eventual Eastern Conference champion Indiana Pacers in the second round.

However, things have not gone according to plan so far this season, as Darius Garland has been in and out of the lineup due to injury, Evan Mobley has not taken the offensive leap that fans have been clamoring for for several years now, and Jarrett Allen is not doing much of anything on either end of the floor at the current juncture.

If things continue down this path, it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Cavs’ front office start to consider some trades in order to give the team a kickstart.

In any case, the Cavs will next take the floor on Monday evening for a road game against the Indiana Pacers. That contest will tip off at 7:00 pm ET.
