Cleveland Cavs All-Star Donovan Mitchell is a Cleveland Guardians fan who doesn’t hide his support for the city’s baseball team, as Jose Ramirez got a shoutout after the third baseman inked a $175 million contract extension. Ramirez’s extension locks him in with Cleveland for the next 10 seasons, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
“Cleveland Guardians star José Ramírez’s extension is now signed and done, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. Includes $106M in new money — $70M of which is deferred for 10 years — and turns the three years and $69M he had into seven years and $175M,” Passan reported.
Mitchell gave Jose Ramirez’s new deal a shoutout on his Instagram story, per ClutchPoints’ Joey Mistretta.
Mitchell showed his outpouring of support throughout his offseason on social media and attended games in Cleveland during the summer.

Cavs All-Star Donovan Mitchell has supported the Guardians over the years, embracing Cleveland’s sports culture since joining the Cavs in 2022. While he is a Mets fan at heart, Mitchell’s support for the Guardians never wavers, as he cheered them on after clinching the playoffs last season.
Mitchell shouted out the Guardians’ postseason success on his X (formerly Twitter) back in October.
“YESSIRR!!!@CleGuardians‼️‼️” Mitchell wrote.
Mitchell cheered for the Guardians all the way through the AL Wild Card series, where the Detroit Tigers eliminated the Guardians 2-1. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt was seen embracing Mitchell at a Cavs game last season, as the Cavs were dominating at the top of the Eastern Conference.
The Cavs will look to improve on their 26-20 record when they face the Magic on Saturday.
