The Cleveland Cavaliers went to Minnesota and got a win against the Timberwolves, beating them 124-117. Before the game, the Cavs must have received a lot of motivation from Timberwolves’ fans, because according to Donovan, they were a big reason for their win.

“Shout out to the lady in the elevator that wished us bad luck and said we were gonna be terrible tonight,” Mitchell said after the game. “She set the tone for the whole night.”

Mitchell took what the fan said to heart because he finished the game with 36 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Hopefully, fans realize that it’s not good to rile up the players before or during the game because it won’t end well on their end.

Donovan Mitchell continues to lead Cavs

Donovan Mitchell continues to be a big reason for the Cavs’ success, and he’s been a great leader for them as well, win or loss. After their recent loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Mitchell put the blame on himself for how the team came out.

“They just set the tone,” Mitchell said via ESPN’s Tim MacMahon. “We didn’t come ready to play. Put this one on me. As a leader, you’ve got to set the tone. That’s twice now against this team that I haven’t been that. When your leader’s not doing it, it trickles down.”

The Cavs are playing some of the best basketball in the league, and credit can be given to multiple players on the team. Darius Garland has been playing solid alongside Mitchell, while Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen have become one of the more dominant frontcourts in the league.

If the Cavs continue to play like this in the second half of the season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them make a deep playoff run.
