The Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James is at the #1 spot for jerseys sold by Dick’s Sporting Goods this season with his teammate Kevin Love at #12. The All-Star pair leads the Cavaliers in scoring and rebounding this season.
The Akron, Ohio native has held the top spot since December.
James’ main competition is the Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry who owns the #2 spot with his own teammate, Kevin Durant, at #3. Sales for Curry’s jersey is going strong this week and he may yet take the top spot later on unless the Cavs superstar’s fans continue to patronize his jerseys.
Kevin Love has been a revelation. His jerseys were selling quite well and were at #19 in December. Since then, the All-Star forward’s jerseys have been catching up to the rest of the pack.
Curry’s and James’ jerseys have been the top sellers the past few years with the two flip-flopping between #1 and #2. In 2015, James was at the number one spot with Curry at second place. In 2016 and 2017, it was Curry who held the honor of being #1, and James taking the runner-up position.
It’s no surprise then that LeBron James and Curry are also the top two vote-getters for their conference in the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, making them the opposing team captains.
Jersey sales are helped by the fact that there are multiple options for fans to choose from. With Nike replacing Adidas as the official outfitter of the NBA this season, new jersey designs have fans scurrying to pick up the new threads by their favorite players.
