LeBron James recorded quite a few milestones in the game against the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night but there is a particular stat line that he has never recorded in relation to one of his accomplishments. He was the first player in NBA history to reach 30,000 points, 8,000 rebounds, and 8,000 assists.
With 31 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, James added to his triple-double count with 67 for his career and 12 this season. February is also James’ first-time ever to average a triple-double in a month.
But there’s an interesting trivia that Redditor Melkor_The_Morgoth just discovered. He says “despite crossing the 30k/8k/8k mark, LeBron James has never had a game with 30/8/8.”
Searching for this very specific stat line from Basketball Reference, it shows that only 14 players have ever recorded these exact numbers since the 1963-64 season, the furthest that the site can search for statistically.
Interestingly, his former Cavs teammate in guard Kyrie Irving was among those to record 30-8-8 on March 8, 2014 in a loss to the New York Knicks before James returned to Cleveland that summer.
Another interesting trivia was suggested by Redditor Shaqx_95 and it’s one that’s been mentioned previously on other sites. James’ career average is roughly 27 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists but he has also never recorded those specific numbers in a single game in his career.
However, there is a stat line that Redditor repetitionofalie suggested when he chimed in on the discussion. Should the Cavaliers star reach the 30K/10K/10K mark, he has recorded at least one game wherein he had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
James is joined by an elite company as only Larry Bird, Clyde Drexler, and Jason Kidd have ever had the same stats in a single game.
