Free agent guard David Nwaba is finalizing terms to join the Cleveland Cavaliers, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports.
The former Chicago Bulls talent was in touch with the Cavs since day one of free agency, as the two sides finally met last week after Kevin Love signed a four-year, $120 million extension.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound guard has proven to be a solid rebounder and a productive scorer, showing plenty of potential during his rookie season with the Los Angeles Lakers, only to follow it up over 79 games with the Bulls, posting 7.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 23.5 minutes per game.
Nwaba saw time playing shooting guard under Justin Holiday before talisman Zach LaVine made his return from injury. He’s proved to be an efficient scorer during his short time in the league, but will need to develop his acumen at the 3-point line before he can break out as one of the best options off of Tyronn Lue’s bench for this upcoming season.
The 25-year-old boasts career averages of 7.5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists through 90 NBA appearances.
This is relatively huge news for the Cavs, as many believe David Nwaba can be a future big time talent in the NBA, likely sooner than later.
