Cavs’ Darius Garland already making birthday plans for Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell is about to turn 26 real soon, and so his Cleveland Cavaliers teammate Darius Garland is already making plans.

On Instagram live, the two got together and just had fun talking and sharing updates. During the stream, Garland mentioned Mitchell’s upcoming birthday and noted how they got “birthday shots” coming.

Mitchell is celebrating his birthday on September 7, so as he joins the Cavs for the first time, there’s another reason for the team to celebrate.

Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell appear to share a good relationship, and that should only bode well for a Cavs franchise looking to compete for the playoffs and, hopefully, the title in the years to come.

Cleveland made the big move for Mitchell, trading Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen, Ochai Agbaji, and three unprotected first round picks plus two pick swaps to the Utah Jazz for the All-Star guard. It is clear they are all-in to turn the tides for the franchise, so much so that they were even willing to sacrifice valuable future assets.

There will be huge expectations for the Cavs in the upcoming 2022-23 season, but they definitely have the talent and the depth to exceed them. First things first, though, Cleveland better prepare a nice birthday bash for their new All-Star.

It’ll definitely be interesting to see how the group will celebrate.
