The Cleveland Cavaliers have plenty of reasons to be excited about Danny Green’s addition to the team. For one, as head coach JB Bickerstaff said, his championship experience should be vital in guiding the relatively young Cavs to postseason success.
Green joined the Cavs after the Memphis Grizzlies traded him to the Houston Rockets at the deadline and his contract was bought out. He signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Wine and Gold after completing his buyout from Houston.
Ahead of the Cavs’ showdown with the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, Bickerstaff opened up about Green’s arrival and shared his thoughts how he see the marksman making an impact to the team aside from his shooting. The Cleveland coach noted that the “information” Green has on guarding the best players and suiting up in the biggest games under the brightest lights will be beneficial in helping the team, per Tim Bontemps of ESPN.
Danny Green has three NBA championships under his belt, and he has been a big-time performer in the playoffs for much of his career. As JB Bickerstaff said, the Cavs could really use those qualities as they attempt to make it to the postseason and compete for the title.
The Cavs definitely have the weapons to make waves in the playoffs, but their inexperience might cost them. With that said, having a veteran in Green who has experienced everything the postseason has to offer should alleviate some of their concerns.
Cleveland is currently fourth in the East at the time of writing. Considering how they are playing, they are well on track to making it to the playoffs. Hopefully, Green’s addition will really help them get over the hump.
