The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to round out the roster ahead of next season. According to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype, the Cavs worked out Tyler Ulis, JaKarr Sampson, Alan Williams and Marcus Georges-Hunt. All four players are recent free agents with NBA experience.
Ulis is the most interesting of the four. He has experience as a starter and could be a nice backup for rookie point guard Collin Sexton. Of course, the Cavs still have George Hill on the roster, but if they are considering moving him, Ulis is a capable guard they can plug into the rotation.
Sampson has bounced around the league since coming in as an undrafted free agent out of St. John’s. He has played on three different teams and spent most of his time in the G League (formerly the D-League).
Williams has limited experience in the NBA, but during his best season in 2014-15, he averaged 7.4 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in only 15.2 minutes per game.
Georges-Hunt has yet to see significant minutes on any roster in the NBA, but he’s still young and brimming with potential. The shooting guard out of Georgia Tech has yet to have the opportunity to prove himself, so perhaps Cleveland is the right place for him to do that.
It’s unclear exactly how much interest Cleveland has in any of these players, but it’s clear that they are in search of a few more players to fill out their roster.
