Fans in Cleveland will be happy to know that the Cavs have joined the ranks of teams to unveil a City Edition uniform for the 2018-19 season.
There are several notable design features in Cleveland’s new kits, so let’s dive right in.
COLORS
As an homage to the colors they wore during the 1994 season — their first at the new downtown arena — the Cavs decided to go with vibrant orange and blue.
CLEVELAND SCRIPT
In partnership with Destination Cleveland, the Cavs will wear the organization’s eye-catching script across the front of their new uniforms.
“The partnership champions the vibrant city the Cavs are proud to represent on the court, in the community, across the country and to the world.”
THE WAVE
The wave that separates the blue and orange colors on Cleveland’s new CE kits is meant to represent the power and energy generated from Lake Erie. The jock tag of the jersey also features a slogan that reads “1 of 5 greats,” which is a reference to the five Great Lakes.
“A force of nature, The Great Lake Erie symbolizes the perseverance and fortitude of a community of people who stand strong together and proudly call themselves Clevelanders.”
TRUNKS
The shorts of Cleveland’s new uniforms feature the Cavs’ stylized “C” logo on the lower portion of the right leg. The logo is predominantly white, with blue and orange accents adding a 3-D effect. Just below the “C” logo, the designers at Nike incorporated an image of the Great Lakes under the ventilation flap.
According to their website, Cleveland will debut their new City Edition jerseys against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, November 13th.
The Cavs will be back in action on Saturday night, when they’ll travel to Chicago for a match-up against the Bulls. Tip-off inside the United Center is set for 8:00 p.m. EST with FOX Sports Ohio having live broadcast coverage.
