The Cleveland Cavaliers have traded shooting guard Kyle Korver to the Utah Jazz, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Jazz are sending the Cavs shooting guard Alec Burks and two future second-round picks in exchange for Korver.
Kyle Korver played three seasons with the Jazz. The sharpshooter is making $7.5 million this season and has $3.4 million guaranteed for the 2019-20 season.
In 16 games this season with the Cavs, Kyle Korver averaged 6.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field, 46.3 percent from beyond the arc and 81.3 percent from the free-throw line.
Alec Burks is a talented scorer, he just can’t seem to stay healthy. He’s never played more than 78 games in a season. The 27-year-old has career averages of 9.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from beyond the arc and 76.8 percent from the free-throw line.
Burks is making $11.3 million this season and will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer.
The Jazz now have one of the best shooters in the NBA to space the floor for them. Second-year guard Donovan Mitchell is one of the best slashers in the game, so when he collapses the paint, Korver is going to be wide-open from beyond the arc.
For the Cavs, this was a move that had to be made. Cleveland is not contending this season, so Korver deserved to be on a winning team.
