The Cleveland Cavaliers have announced that they have signed guard Kobi Simmons to a 10-day contract.
The move comes after the team let guard Cameron Payne go after his second 10-day contract expired earlier this week.
Simmons was originally signed by the Cavaliers during the offseason and even took part in the team’s training camp, but eventually was moved to the Canton Charge, the Cavs G League team.
There, he played in 30 games for the Charge, averaging 17.0 points, 3.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals during his tenure.
Simmons went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft after playing for the University of Arizona. He initially signed a two-way deal for the Memphis Grizzlies, and played in 32 games for the team last year, averaging only 6.1 points, 2.1 assists, and 1.6 rebounds.
For the Cavs, this is another move in an effort for the team to attempt to secure some talented young players on a team that is desperate for them.
At 9-41, the Cavs have the worst record in the NBA and are currently headed toward a top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.
