The tilt between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the New York Knicks in the Big Apple on Monday lived up to the billing. With a horde of celebrities watching the game live at Madison Square Garden, it’s that players on the court that shined the most as both teams traded blows, especially late in the game.
Until the Cavs turned it around in the fourth quarter, the Knicks were trending towards an upset win over their visitors. The Knicks entered the last period taking with them a 15-point lead, but that’s not the largest point-cushion they had in the game. At one point in the third quarter, the Knickerbockers were up by as many as 23 points, which according to ESPN gave the Knicks a 99.4 percent probability to win the game.
Unfortunately for the Knicks, Kyle Korver was about to lose his mind in the fourth quarter. Korver poured 19 of his 21 points in the final 12 minutes of regulation. Korver waxed hot from beyond the arc in the fourth, where he went 5-of-8 from 3-point region to lead the Cavs’ comeback.
Kyle Korver’s heroics complemented perfectly the effort LeBron James put up in the game. James had an all-around performance, racking up 23 points, 12 assists, nine rebounds, and three blocks in the 104-101 victory.
Cleveland will look to make it three in a row this Wednesday as they take on the Charlotte Hornets on the road before coming back home Friday for a matchup with the L.A. Clippers.
