As the Cleveland Cavaliers drafted Tyrese Proctor out of Duke with the 49th overall pick in the second round of the NBA Draft, the team and the prospect have agreed on the rookie contract, according to Michael Scotto of Hoops Hype. With the Cavs looking to bounce back after a crushing playoff exit, the team is looking for Proctor to immediately impact the team.
The contract that Proctor signed in Cleveland is a four-year, $8.69 million deal, as the first two seasons with the team are fully guaranteed, with the third season having a “significant partial guarantee,” and the fourth having a team option.
“Just In: The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed No. 49 overall pick Tyrese Proctor to a four-year, $8.69 million deal, league sources told [Hoops Hype],” Scotto wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “The first two seasons are fully guaranteed, third-year significant partial guarantee, and a fourth-year team option.”

With the Cavs losing out on Ty Jerome in free agency, the team could look to Proctor to have the same impact, being a sparkplug off the bench on the offensive side of the ball. Subsequently, looking at his scouting report, ESPN’s Jonathan Givony would speak about the “flashes of ability” that Proctor has and could contribute to Cleveland.
“Proctor’s positional size, improvement as a spot-up shooter, and flashes of ability creating out of pick-and-rolls across his three collegiate seasons are intriguing, but he never quite turned the corner as a point guard,” Givony wrote. “He will have to add toughness to have a meaningful role off the ball at the NBA level.”
At any rate, Proctor will get to work immediately as the Summer League starts in July.
