Shortly before noon on Thursday, the Cleveland Cavaliers released the official variant of their preseason schedule.

According to an official report from the team, Cleveland will play four preseason games, beginning on Oct. 2 and culminating on Oct. 12. Two of those games will be played inside Quicken Loans Arena (Sat., Oct. 6 against the Boston Celtics and Mon., Oct. 8 versus the Indiana Pacers). On Oct. 22, the Cavs will head to TD Garden for an away game against the Boston Celtics.

According to their official report, the Cavs will play one preseason game at a neutral site: a bout against the Detroit Pistons in East Lansing, Michigan on Oct. 12 at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center at Michigan State University.

All Cavs preseason games will be broadcast on FOX Sports Ohio and carried on the Cavaliers’ flagship radio stations WTAM 1100 AM and La Mega 87.7 FM (Spanish), as well as across the Cavaliers Radio Network. Ticket on-sale information for the Cavaliers’ preseason games will be announced soon.

As most hoops fans know, Cleveland has made four consecutive Finals appearances. Now, however, with LeBron James taking his talents to Long Beach, Cavs head coach Tyronn Lue and his staff will be looking to develop their young players, including first-round pick Collin Sexton.

Whether or not the Cavs (50-32 and 1st in the Central Division last regular season) will be able to make a run at the Playoffs remains to be seen. The team made several moves this offseason in an attempt to bolster their roster, including the acquisitions of Channing Frye, Sam Dekker, and David Nwaba. All things considered, Cleveland should have a nice mix of youthful drive and veteran leadership.

Don’t count the Cavs out of the Playoff hunt just yet. Let’s see how this new challenge unfolds.
