When we think of LeBron James, we think of an all-time great basketball player. A three-time champion. A four-time MVP. A perennial All-Star. A business mogul.
But now, apparently, we have to add a guy with bad breath to the list.
As a matter of fact, his breath must be so bad that his former teammate, Channing Frye, says that that will be the first thing he tells his kids about James:
“No. 1, he has smelly breath. Smelly breath,” said Frye, according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic. “No. 2, he was a freak of nature. And then No. 3, Kyle Korver and I fixed his jumper for one year. (Funny, Korver takes the credit for that.) I know, but Korver, Channing, it’s all the same. It’s all about Korver.”
Notice how Frye placed some emphasis on it by saying “smelly breath” twice.
In all seriousness, Frye and LeBron James became teammates midway through the 2015-16 campaign when the Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Frye in a trade with the Orlando Magic.
Frye provided a big lift for the Cavaliers, giving them a fine floor spacer up front and averaging 7.5 points and 3.6 rebounds over 17.2 minutes per game while shooting 44.1 percent from the floor and 37.7 percent from three-point range.
Also, while he did not play much during Cleveland’s seven-game NBA Finals victory over the Golden State Warriors, taking the floor for just 33 minutes total during the series, he played a significant role in helping the Cavs reach that point, registering 6.7 points across 13.9 minutes a night in the playoffs while making 59.4 percent of his shots and 56.5 percent of his triples.
