Before outside-shooting big men proliferated the NBA, there was the duo of Channing Frye and Kevin Love serving that role for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Both were indeed capable 3-point shooters for the Cavs during their time together in The Land, but Frye believes he’s better in that department than Love, as evidenced by his hilarious dig at the current Miami Heat big man.
There is no stopping Frye from pushing that agenda especially if he’s got the stats to back it up. This is also nothing but just someone lightly ribbing a friend, so there’s really not much to look into Frye’s trolling of his former teammate.
When the Cavs won the NBA title in 2016, Frye shot 37.7 percent from behind the arc with the Cavs. It can be remembered that Frye originally started that season with the Orlando Magic, who traded him to Cleveland. Love, on the other hand, knocked down 36.0 percent of his attempts from downtown that same season.
Frye is years removed from the last time he saw action in the NBA, having retired at the end of the 2018-19 campaign with the Cavs. Love, at least, is still hanging around the league, even signing a two-year deal with the Heat last July and nearly winning yet another NBA ring when Miami reached the 2023 NBA Finals.
Although they are no longer teammates, the bond between Channing Frye and Kevin Love will always be there, so we probably can expect some friendly shots here and there from either side going forward.
