Cedi Osman had a big night Sunday during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 122-99 blowout win at home over the Los Angeles Clippers. It was a huge statement win for the Cavs against a legitimate NBA title contender. But perhaps none bigger than the one made by Osman following the game when he explained why he did not try to use the final minute of the contest to set a new career-high in points (via Chris Fedor of Cleveland.com.)
“I knew that I tied my career-high, but at the end of the game, it was a 30-point game and a couple of seconds left, so I didn’t see any reason just to go and score two points,” Osman said following the win. “I felt like it’d be disrespectful towards the Clippers. Vert (Caris LeVert) was calling me to give me the ball, but I was just telling him to keep it. It was a fun game.”
Cedi Osman ended up with 29 points in just 22 minutes off the bench. He shot the lights out from behind the arc, making all seven of his 3-pointe attempts and 11 of 13 shots overall from the field. He also added two assists, two rebounds, and two steals in an all-around effort that greatly contributed to the success of the Cavs in that contest.
Still just 27 years old, Cedi Osman will find plenty more chances in the future to set a new career high. He could still be hot when the Cavs play the Miami Heat at home this coming Tuesday.
