There are plenty of new faces the Cleveland Cavaliers will be parading in the upcoming season, and one of them is a rookie that hails from thousands of miles away. That’s incoming rookie and Turkish star Cedi Osman, who wowed everyone who saw him play in Turkey’s opening match in the 2017 FIBA EuroBasket, albeit in a 76-73 loss to Russia.
Despite the loss, Osman managed to showcase the electrifying talent the Cavaliers are hoping he’ll be able to bring over to Cleveland. Against Russia, Osman stuffed the stat sheet with 28 points on 6-for-14 shooting from the field to go along with seven rebounds, seven steals, and four assists. He went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc, and sank 13 of his 15 attempts from the charity stripe.
Of course, Osman is not going to tear it up like that in the early goings of his NBA career, as he tries to find his way in the league, but the 22-year-old possesses a promising future the Cavaliers could be eyeing to build around.
Osman was drafted 31st overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves before his rights were traded to Cleveland, but it took him two years to sign an NBA contract, opting to stay a couple more years in Europe to play for Turkish ball club, Anadolu Efes.
Osman agreed to finally come over to Cleveland earlier this summer, when he inked a three-year, $8.3-million contract with the Cavaliers.
