Future Cavs rookie Cedi Osman played his second game of Eurobasket play on Saturday afternoon as Turkey played host to Great Britain in Day 3 of the 2017 Eurobasket tournament. Osman posted a line consisting of 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks.
The soon-to-be Cleveland Cavalier had a great all around game for his Turkish team, playing both sides of the ball well and helping his team get in the win column in the tournament. This comes after a 28 point, seven rebound, seven steal, and four assist game by Osman on Friday afternoon in a 73-76 loss to Russia.
After needing to give his team a scoring boost with only two teammates in double figures at 11 points apiece against Russia, Osman’s teammates, namely Melih Mahmutoğlu (21 points) and former Cavalier Semi Erden (19 points), both showed up and eased the scoring load on the 6-foot-8 forward.
From the first couple of Eurobasket games, it’s clear Osman is a talented forward, but still has some work to do when it comes to things like shot selection, especially going to the basket and coming off screens. In two games, Osman has combined to shoot just 9-25 from the field, including 4-10 from beyond the arc.
He has shown the ability to get to the line, however, shooting 19 free throws and making 17 of them. He’s also been incredibly active in the passing lanes, coming up with nine steals in the first two contests.
Up next for Osman and Turkey will be Serbia, led by Pacers’ scoring guard Bojan Bogdanovic, on Monday afternoon at 2PM EST on ESPN3.
