The 2024-25 season has been a rousing success for the Cleveland Cavaliers; despite being urged by many critics to hit a soft reset, they soldiered on with their core four of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen and went on to produce some of their best basketball in franchise history under the tutelage of new head coach Kenny Atkinson. On Wednesday night, the Cavs earned their 52nd win of the season in 62 games with a 112-107 victory over the Miami Heat — putting them on track for 68 wins this season.
And in grabbing a win on Wednesday night, the Cavs became the first team in the entire NBA to earn a playoff berth — which is quite the validating feat for a team that has been so dominant all season long.
Of course, this is not the end goal for the Cavs; but the team’s loyal fanbase expressed jubilation for this wonderful achievement that has them well on course for their ultimate aim of winning a championship.
“Man I can’t wait to watch the Cavs in the playoffs, nothing better. Favorite sport favorite team. Don’t take it for granted. Especially in Cleveland,” X user @PTwice216 wrote.
“im so proud of them 🥹🥹🥹 this is my first season really loving basketball (ive always loved the cavs but usually only watch the playoffs!) and im having SO MUCH FUN,” @sunflouwerhabit added.
“Cavs handling business early! First team locked in for the playoffs, Mitchell and crew are ready to make some noise,” @pjweb3 furthered.
“This Cavs team is crazy right now. Being tested and getting everyones best right now. We’re having some struggles and giving up leads but ultimately finding ways to battle back and win. These will be huge for the playoffs,” @rob_shank expressed.
Cavs look to prove themselves in the grand stage of the playoffs

Over the past two seasons, the Cavs have been steadily improving; in 2023, they struggled in the first round of the playoffs against the New York Knicks. And then in 2024, they managed to escape the first-round after a hard-fought series against the Orlando Magic before succumbing to the eventual champion Boston Celtics.
In 2025, they will be looking to get over the hump completely; they have one of the deepest teams in the association, and they have the personnel to shapeshift depending on their matchup in the postseason. Teams don’t just luck into an 84 percent win rate this deep into the playoffs, but the Cavs will be raring to prove that they’re not mere regular season merchants.
