At this point, Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love has more “touchdown” passes in The Land than Tyrod Taylor and Baker Mayfield combined. The Cavs stud added to his collection of excellent outlet passes on Monday, when he threw a laser to a streaking LeBron James, who finished with a layup in the first quarter of Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics.
It was arguably the best play of the game and one that remains talked about days after the Cavs’ series-tying, 111-102, win. It also drew massive praises even from Celtics head coach Brad Stevens, who thought that the play was as ridiculous as it was impressive, per Jared Weiss of The Athletic.
Apart from corralling Kevin Love’s pass like a tight end, LeBron James finished the game with 44 points on 17-for-28 shooting from the floor to go with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 42 minutes of action. In a sense, thinking that LeBron could be slowed down in these playoffs is a joke in itself also, as the four-time MVP enters Game 5 with averages of 33.7 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game in the postseason.
Love, meanwhile, did not have much to show other than that highlight-reel assist to James, as he went on to compile just nine points on 3-for-12 shooting with 11 boards and three dimes.
Love and James are looking to lead the Cavs to a win again this Wednesday in a crucial affair in Boston.
Brad Stevens, while not coaching the Cavs, can at least appreciate greatness when he sees it.
