The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to a bit of a rough start to the 2017-18 season having won just three out of their first five games.
This includes dropping two out of the last three contests against a pair of teams in the Orlando Magic and Brooklyn Nets that failed to reach the playoffs last season. All of this has led to former NBA player, Cavs legend, and current commentator for FOX Sports Ohio, Austin Carr, to voice much concern.
The Cavs have struggled with consistency on both ends of the floor to start the season with LeBron James being the only true source of raliability over the stretch. It has contributed greatly to opposing teams holding their own against them through the first few games.
However, what must be taken into consideration is that Cleveland is playing with a roster that is missing a few of its core pieces such as Isaiah Thomas, who isn’t expected to be back until early January, and Derrick Rose, who is currently dealing with an ankle injury.
There is also the fact that Dwyane Wade has notably struggled with fitting in offensively with the Cavs as it has resulted in him moving to the bench. There are still many moving pieces to the puzzle, but it’s clear that the team has plenty of work to do in order to get back to playing like a championship contending team.
