New Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond has a player option worth $28,751,775 for next season. Everyone wants to know if the high-flyer is going to pick it up or decline it and enter unrestricted free agency after this season ends.
Drummond, who practiced with the Cavs for the first time on Saturday, gave a pretty honest answer about the player option:
Multiple reports have said that Drummond is expected to pick up that lucrative option since he won’t make that type of money on the open market.
Drummond is averaging 17.8 points, 15.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists this season. He’s shooting 53.0 percent from the field and 58.4 percent from the free-throw line.
The Cavs will use the rest of this season to determine if Drummond is a good fit next to guards Collin Sexton and Darius Garland. For his career, Drummond puts up 14.4 points and 15.8 rebounds per game.
The Cavs will miss the playoffs this season for the second consecutive season.
