Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard Alec Burks would like to stay with the Cavs long term, but the 27-year-old understands the nature of the business and says that ultimately it will be up to the organization if they want him back.

The Cavs acquired Burks from the Utah Jazz last week in the Kyle Korver trade. Burks is making $11.5 million this season and will become an unrestricted free agent during the offseason.

After the game Burks was asked if Cleveland is where he wants to be.

“Hopefully. That’s not up to me,” Burks said, via Cleveland.com. “We will see what happens.”

Alec Burks is a talented scorer, he just can’t seem to stay healthy. He’s never played more than 78 games in a season. Burks has career averages of 9.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 42.5 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 76.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Burks said he was happy to be traded to the Cavs because he was going to get playing time in Cleveland. The high-flyer wasn’t seeing the floor that much in Utah. He hit the game-winning dunk on Monday against the Brooklyn Nets, showing the Cavs what he can bring to the table.
