The Cleveland Cavs have been up and down lately, currently looking to be in solid position to lock up the number four seed in the Eastern Conference, but unlikely to move up any higher than that. The Cavs recently got some good news when Max Strus returned from injury, giving the team an injection of shooting and experience heading into the postseason.
Unfortunately, the Cavs got some tougher news on the injury front on Sunday.
“Cleveland Cavaliers forwards Jaylon Tyson (left great toe bone bruise) and Dean Wade (right ankle sprain) will be out for the team’s upcoming three-game road trip to Utah, L.A. Lakers, and Golden State. Both players will remain in Cleveland for treatment and rehabilitation. Updates on their return to play will be provided as appropriate,” reported the Cavs’ official team account on X, formerly Twitter.
Additionally, Strus and big man Jarrett Allen will both miss tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz.
Tyson and Wade have both been important players for the Cavs this year, spacing out the defense with their ability to knock down threes, as well as providing some solid defense in their own right.
It’s rare that a team has a West Coast road trip this far into the season, but that’s exactly the situation that Cleveland finds itself in with under two weeks to go in the 2025-26 campaign. The good news is that the Jazz and Warriors don’t make for particularly tough opponents at this point in time, although the game against the Lakers will likely not be a cakewalk.
In any case, the Jazz and Cavs are slated to tip off on Monday evening at 9:00 pm ET from Salt Lake City.
