Amid their 16-game winning streak, the Cleveland Cavs continue to have a historic 2024-25 campaign. The team’s best regular season is amidst its longest winning streak. Cavs coach Kenny Atkinson recently spoke to the streak’s magnitude when it tied their 15-game win streak from earlier in the season. Then, Cleveland defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 133-124.

The Cavs stretched it to a 16-game winning streak. One social media user put it in perspective on McNeil’s X, formerly Twitter.

“The Cleveland Cavaliers have not lost since 5 days before the Super Bowl,” he wrote.

This dates the Cavs’ last loss to February 4. After losing to the champion Boston Celtics 112-105, the Cavs haven’t dropped a game since, beating teams such as the New York Knicks, Memphis Grizzlies, and the Celtics during their longest winning streak in franchise history.

After edging out the Charlotte Hornets in last week’s 118-117 win, Cavs’ All-Star Donovan Mitchell addressed where he believes his backcourt union with fellow All-Star Darius Garland is among the greatest starting backcourts in NBA history.

“Ooh, that’s a lot. In history? That’s tough,” Mitchell told Jerry Donatien, Hornets beat reporter for ClutchPoints. “I’m never gonna put anyone ahead of us because that’s just, we can’t. But I think there was a backcourt of Kyrie Irving and James Harden that existed. There’s a backcourt of Kyrie and Luka [Doncic] existed… [But] I can kind of see what he’s saying.”

Mitchell is averaging 24.2 points, 4.8 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game this season, while Garland averages 21.0 points, 6.7 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.2 steals per game for the Cavs.

Cavs head coach Kenny Atkinson addressed his team’s current win streak. He discussed the significance of his team’s win streak during the tail end of the 2024-25 regular season.

Atkinson says it’s a slightly overlooked streak but will test the time as a signature accomplishment from the Cavs’ historic regular season, per Hoops Wire’s Sam Amico.

“To do it at this juncture of the season, with fatigue and people trying to knock us off, it’s quite an accomplishment. We’ll look back at this someday.” Atkinson said

The Cavs’ league-leading record, 56-10, tops the Eastern Conference standings, while the champion Celtics are trailing by 8.5 games in second place. The Cavs strung together impressive wins against the Heat and Bucks and a second win against the Grizzlies in their last five wins. With 16 games left in the regular season, it’s the momentum ideal before the playoffs next month.
