NBA fans were treated to quite the showdown on Friday night between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Philadelphia 76ers. The stars aligned at the Wells Fargo Center with the Thunder “Big 3” coming to town.
Needless to say, the marquee matchup followed through on the hype by delivering the first triple overtime game of the 2017-18 NBA season. It seems fans were not the only ones enamored by the outing as evidenced by Cleveland Cavaliers superstar forward LeBron James’ post on Twitter:
That said, it is not easy to impress “The King” However, in terms of intriguing elements, this game had it all.
The Sixers were led by a yet another dominant performance from budding superstar center Joel Embiid, who finished with 34 points, eight rebounds, and six assists while playing a career-high 49 minutes. Furthermore, he brought his brand of trash talk with him and, at one point, even got into a heated exchange with Thunder superstar forward Carmelo Anthony.
However, it was not enough to overcome the versatile scoring attack of the Thunder’s “Big 3”, who combined to score 75 points on the night. Regardless, that did not take away from the fact that all players involved delivered quite a treat for the fans across the league.
