LeBron James is 33, looks like he’s 45, but plays like he is always 23. In his 15th season in the league, the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar remains as one of the best players in the world, and in one instance during Friday night’s road game against the Memphis Grizzlies, James showed no signs of slowing down – literally.
Here is the Cavs’ four-time MVP breaking away from a sleuth of bears – or like Secretariat in the final turn in the Kentucky Derby for a two-handed flush finish.
Right after seeing George Hill intercept a cross-court pass by the Grizzlies, James turned on his boosters and ran like a madman down the court, speeding through a number of Memphis players, who were not able to do anything in stopping the speeding locomotive.
This is not entirely surprising. For one, James is an athletic freak whose combination of size, speed, and dexterity has made him one of the most terrifying – not to mention unstoppable – players in transition.
On the season, James is averaging 26.6 points, 8.9 assists, and 8.1 rebounds per game. He is also shooting an astounding 54.7 percent from the field.
But let’s not forget the lackadaisical effort in that play by the Grizzlies. Sure James is a handful on offense, but Marc Gasol and company could have done more than just jog. Then again, there’s really not that much to expect from Memphis, as the team is very unlikely to make the playoffs.
As for the Cavs, they are currently on their way to a comfortable win against Memphis. Up ahead of them is a marquee road matchup with the San Antonio Spurs this Sunday.
