Over the weekend, L.A. Clippers power forward Blake Griffin made an interesting statement with regards to LeBron James’ potential free agency after completion of the 2017-18 NBA season. For whatever reason, Griffin claimed that there is “something brewing.”
“Honestly, I don’t see him coming to L.A. period,” Griffin said in his appearance on the Skylar Brother podcast, ‘View from the Cheap Seats’. “Listen, again, I have no idea [laughs]. I think something is brewing with him and his group of guys. I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I think something’s brewing and they’re going to try to make that work.”
Just a few days after Griffin made his statement, one TMZ reporter caught up with the King in Los Angeles to ask him about the situation. James, an athlete who tries to treat the media with respect, didn’t have much to say about the topic. In fact, as he walked to his convertible Porsche 911, James gave the oldest response in the book, saying: “I don’t even know what you’re talking about.”
As of today, there is no expert or analyst who knows what James’ true intentions are for next summer. Maybe he stays in Cleveland — maybe he doesn’t. There are some Cavs fans who have already came to terms with James’ potential departure. Yet, others remain adamant in their belief that the three-time champion will ride off into the Lake Erie sunset wearing a wine and gold uniform. Whichever side of the fence you’re stood on in this debate, be sure to take some time to enjoy the ride.
