During the question and answer period of the Cleveland Cavaliers’ introductory press conference for their new acquisitions, Jae Crowder shared some emotional news about his mother, Helen.
She had passed away on the same night that his son was traded to the Cavs, which was a very moving time for him. Crowder was asked about the situation, and his response was heartbreaking.
“I was just glad I got to whisper in her ear right before: we’re going to Cleveland.”
Not five minutes later, his mother passed away. It’s tough to imagine how difficult of a time that was for Crowder; he was traded away from the city he had played in for the past three years, and lost one of the people most dear to him all in the same night.
Jae Crowder looks primed to honor her memory by having a big season in Cleveland, and hopefully topping it with his first NBA championship.
