UPDATE: Friday, February 3rd – 5:30 PM EST
According to a source, guards Kirk Hinrich and Mario Chalmers (coming off an Achilles injury) are unlikely to make the team at this time after neither overly impressed the Cavs in Wednesday’s workout. Chalmers is reportedly looking for a rest-of-season deal, which is why the Cavs are reluctant to offer him one considering their luxury tax situation (at least for now).
Guard Jordan Farmar was impressive, and sources say he is more willing to accept 10-day contract than the other players the Cavs have been working out.

Yesterday, prior to their match-up against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the NBA’s defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers hosted several players whom they feel could fill their needs at various positions.
Mario Chalmers, Lance Stephenson, and Kirk Hinrich were among the players who were brought in for a workout. However, as Joe Vardon of www.cleveland.com writes in his recent article, the champs were most impressed by 30-year-old floor maestro, Jordan Farmar.
Jordan Farmar impressed the Cavs during their free-agent tryout for point guards Wednesday, a source said, and the 30-year-old former Laker may be under consideration for a contract.”
Farmar had his best year with the Lakers in the 2013-14 season, when he averaged 10.5 points and 4.9 assists in 41 games. The 6’2″ UCLA stand-out holds career NBA averages of 7.7 points, 2.9 assists, and 1.9 rebounds per game.
As of last night, sources told Cleveland.com that it is unclear whether the Cavs would sign one of the invitees right away or wait until the March 1st deadline for players to be bought out and playoff eligible.
The Cavs do have one roster spot available, but another slot could open if the team decides to waive Chris Andersen, who has been deemed “out” for the remainder of the season. The defending champs also have several trade exceptions at their disposal. We’ll just have to wait and see if they make a move before the Feb. 23rd trade deadline.
