The trade deadline beater by the Cleveland Cavaliers was not a big news item league-wide, but, the deal meant a lot to Cavs fans as it saw Anderson Varejao pack his bags after 12 years in Cleveland. However, it also made the possible the addition of big man Channing Frye whose ability to shoot the ball from long distance could have more value to the team than what Varejao brought in the limited minutes available. Channing Frye has been a monster off the bench for the Cavs, coming in and knocking down threes in bunches.

Channing Frye left the University of Arizona without graduating after his team made it to the Elite 8 back in 2005. During the 2012-13 season when Frye had an enlarged heart that caused him to miss the season, Frye went back and graduated.

7. The Assist Man

Channing Frye established the Channing Frye Foundation in 2007. He started this foundation in order to help point at-risk youth in a more safe and healthy direction. Frye emphasized when starting this that he wants to help the youth reach their full potential through guidance and mentorship. This shows that Frye’s heart is in a good place and he realizes that life is bigger than basketball. I’m sure that he had individuals in his life that aided in his development as an adolescent and a child so he realizes how important it is to give back.

6. Mr. And Mrs. Frye

Channing Frye got married to the love his life, Lauren Lisoski in on August 14, 2009. The wedding was held at a beautiful location in Oregon. They met through a mutual friend on the first day he arrived in Portland to play for the Blazers in 2007. The two immediately hit it off and were wed two years later. Lauren actually had no idea who Channing Frye was upon meeting him because she was not a big basketball fan. The couple have one child together, a son named Hendrix.

5. Tobias and Frye

Channing Frye is currently 32 years old and although the NBA life has been tasking, he’s been close to family. Frye is cousins with Tobias Harris. The two played together for the Orlando Magic over the past couple of years until Frye was traded to the Cavs and Harris now plays for the Detroit Pistons.

Channing Frye’s Grandfather is famous in his own right. His name is John Mulzac and was a member of the legendary Tuskegee Airmen.
