Magic Johnson congratulates LeBron James for snatching triple double record

The Cleveland Cavaliers, with their backs against the wall, in Game 4 on Friday night responded in a big way with a critical win to stay alive for another game.

A major part of that was LeBron James‘ strong outing that saw him break the tie with Hall of Famer Magic Johnson for the most triple-doubles in the NBA Finals in league history with nine. It didn’t take long for Johnson to issue a congratulatory message to James via Twitter.

James showed up big in the elimination game recording 31 points on 11-of-22 shooting with 11 assists, and 10 rebounds. He had numerous big buckets that helped keep the Golden State Warriors at bay, especially in the second half with a few big 3-pointers to help his team maintain a double-digit lead in the final two quarters of play.

The 32-year-old has put forth an MVP-caliber effort in the NBA Finals against Golden State averaging 31.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 10.5 assists per game. He has been a huge reason why the Cavaliers even have a chance to defend their NBA title.

With the Warriors holding a chance to close out the series on Monday night, a herculean effort from James is expected with his team fighting to extend the series by another game.
