LeBron James needs just 41 points to reach 30,000 for his career. He’ll have a shot at reaching that prestigious plateau in Cleveland on Thursday night, as the Cavs are slated to host the Orlando Magic at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Everything is good, right? You’re probably saying to yourself: ‘He has a shot at scoring 41 points against the Magic.’ Well, in the immortal words of College Game Day’s Lee Corso — ‘Not so fast.’

It seems as though James would like to reach the 30K mark during Saturday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder instead. The King noted that he’d like for his kids to be there.

“It would be great to do it,” James said after Thursday’s practice session at Cleveland Clinic Courts. “Hopefully I don’t do it (Thursday) because my kids have school tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll wait until Saturday so they can come to the weekend game. That would be pretty cool.”

Though his accolades are many, James says his kids don’t really pay much attention.

“Absolutely not,” James joked when asked if his kids care about his upcoming milestone. “They can care less.”

James, now 33 years of age, has been on an absolute tear this season. In fact, he’s posting some of the best statistical figures of his career. In his 43 games played for the Cavs this season, the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 Draft has turned in averages of 27.3 points on 55.7 percent shooting from the field, 8.8 assists (career-high), and 8.0 rebounds.

James would be the youngest player in NBA history to record 30,000 career points. With no signs of regression, it seems the sky is the limit. For a full list of the NBA’s all-time leading scorers, hoops fans can head over to this link from BasketballReference.com.
