Sports Illustrated have released their new issue with Sportsperson of the year LeBron James gracing the cover.

James, who has had a sensational year, was recognized with the prestigious award earlier this month. James is in attendance for the Sports Illustrated Gala in Brooklyn on December 12th to collect his award in front of some of the other game’s all-time greats in Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Bill Russell, who will also be in New York.

Bringing a championship to his beloved home city, as well as lifting the finals MVP trophy were just some of the achievements James added to his growing list of accolades this past year, but his influence socially was unmatched by any athlete in the world.

In a difficult period in tackling social issues, police brutality, racial tension and a controversial election, James was an ever present voice in professional sports. No one was more outspoken, or had more of a positive influence than James did this past year.

Fresh off being named player of the week for the third time already this season, as well as climbing the all-time scoring and assists list, James continues to impress off and on the floor.

The king himself was humbled by the award and cover, and took to social media to express how grateful he is and how he will remain committed to leaving a positive legacy.

THANKFUL, GRATEFUL, HUMBLED, BLESSED, THANK YOU!!! #StriveForGreatness #RWTW #TheKidFromAkron #JamesGang

James will continue to strive for greatness both on and off the floor. The Cavs currently hold the number one seed in the eastern conference as James continues to play at an extraordinary level. Look for the kid from Akron to continue to help others in the community and collect more awards along the way.
