As predicted by everyone, the Cleveland Cavaliers are on top of the East and should remain so after April 13th. They did this despite not having star point guard Kyrie Irving and defensive demon Iman Shumpert to begin the season. They did this while limiting LeBron James’ minutes to a career low 36.6 per game. They did this even with the midseason coaching change.

But, as everyone know, not all that happened in Northeast Ohio this year are something Cavalier fans like to talk about or dwell on. What can we expect? This is a LeBron James-led team, so the media circus is in town.

Although a lot of things were overblown by people from the outside, the Cavs also have their own internal issues. The team has been plagued by inconsistency for most of the year, but over the past week, the tides have changed. The team’s most recent victory at the expense of the Milwaukee Bucks was lauded as their best effort on both ends of the floor. As such, this prompted LeBron James to air a message, after the Bucks game and as reported by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, that is sure to make every team in the league wary of the men in Wine and Gold.

“We’ve had some ups and downs, but for the most part, we’ve had way more ups, and for our team, we’re in a good place right now with a week and a half left in the regular season. It’s a perfect time to be clicking, and we’re clicking right now, so it’s perfect for our team, and everyone feels in a good rhythm offensively and defensively. We know what we want to do, and we can go out and execute that.”

This isn’t good news to the rest of the league. The Cavs are a loaded team that only needs to get past that one mental roadblock before finally getting their act together.

Before losing to the Indiana Pacers in their last game which saw James in the inactive list, Cleveland won three straight games wherein two of those wins were against playoff-bound opponents. The four-time Most Valuable Player has led by example, earning himself Player of the Week and Player of the Month honors along the way.
