Tuesday marked the 21st birthday for Philadelphia 76ers forward Ben Simmons, which elicited a personal message from Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James via Twitter.
The two share a connection a strong connection on and off the court given that Simmons is currently being represented by James’ agency, Klutch Sports Group, under his close friend Rich Paul. In the last year, James has developed a unique bond with the former 2016 first overall pick.
The fact that the four-time league MVP mentioned the same drink that is the favorite for Joel Embiid only makes this tweet a little more subliminal. There will presumably be a lot of connection made from it as this will only further fuel speculation that James could leave the Cavaliers next offseason in free agency.
Philadelphia could become an intriguing option depending on how things shape up over the next season with their young core group. The 76ers have a prime opportunity in front of them to make some major strides forward with possibly their first playoff appearance in six seasons.
At this point, this can all be interpreted as James simply sending out some birthday wishes to one of his close friends in the league that just happens to play for another NBA team.
