The Cleveland Cavaliers now find themselves in a precarious position trailing the Golden State Warriors 3-0 in the NBA Finals.

All of this has seemingly shifted toward the Cavaliers’ long-term outlook due to the dominance that the Warriors have displayed over them in the series. During the media session on Thursday, James voiced some uncertainty as to how much longer he will play in the NBA.

“I don’t know. I feel good. I don’t feel good right now, but I feel good where my game is right now. But I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about it or how long I want to stay around. I definitely want to compete. I want to compete for championships every year. We will see what happens.

This is the first time that James has truly addressed his career from the perspective of how much longer he will play. He is about to wrap up his 14th year in the league and still appears to have plenty left in the tank. James is still playing like the best player in the NBA while coming off arguably his best individual season that should have had him in the MVP conversation.

However, the fact of the matter is that the 32-year-old has logged a lot of mileage on the court on his body. This may eventually begin to wear him down physically because of his age and the massive workload he has had over the last 14 years.

That said, he has built a first-ballot Hall of Fame career that has placed him among the best players to ever play the game. Although he obviously still has much to offer on the court, questions about retirement will arise more frequently over the latter part of his career.
