According to Cleveland.com’s Joe Vardon, the Boston Celtics are offering a package of Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder and multiple first round picks for to the Cleveland Cavaliers for disgruntled point guard Kyrie Irving according to his sources. Also according to Vardon’s sources, the Cavaliers would then move Thomas to acquire more even more assets.

For Cleveland, this move would be surprising since the Cavaliers would be sending their superstar point guard to their inter-conference rivals and bring Boston even closer to contending with Cleveland for the Eastern Conference Title. The obvious prize in this trade would be the first-round picks, with Boston having a king’s ransom of first rounders. The biggest win for Cleveland would be able to secure either the Brooklyn Nets or Los Angeles Lakers‘ first round pick which would help kickstart the rebuild in the event that LeBron James leaves the team following the upcoming season.

Along with Boston’s offer, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the San Antonio Spurs, the LA Clippers, the Phoenix Suns, the Minnesota Timberwolves, the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat have also sent trade proposals to Cleveland for Irving; so the team definitely has options on who to trade Irving to. It would not be surprising to see fresh faces at the start of training camp this fall as the Cavaliers look to move Irving before then and the situation becomes an even bigger distraction.
