Things have become quite clouded around the Cleveland Cavaliers surrounding Kyrie Irving‘s future with the team after he requested a trade.

It appears that Irving just further fueled that notion by subtly “liking” a photo on Instagram that compares growth to comfort.

This photo may represent Irving’s current mindset of wanting to go to a team where he can experience personal growth rather than stay in a situation where he’s comfortable. He may have had much success over the last three years alongside LeBron James, but he wants to assume a much larger role of being the face of the franchise and be the primary offensive weapon for a team.

The only way he believes he can gather more growth is by leaving a team that can compete for NBA titles for the foreseeable future to playing on a team that can lead. Along with that, there is also the possibility that James could leave the team next summer if he were to opt out of the third year of his contract to become a free agent.

There are many wrinkles to this situation, but it’s clear that Irving wants a change of scenery to take what he believes is the next step in his growth as a player. It could be just a matter of time before the Cavaliers grant his request to be moved.
